BREAKING: Preliminary Injunction Issued Blocking Ban on Flavored Vape Products
A judge has issued a preliminary injunction blocking Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s ban on flavored e-cigarettes.
The Court of Claims has granted a preliminary injunction sought by e-cigarette businesses on the state ban on flavored vaping product.
The Court of Claims judge said there is evidence that if flavored vaping products are banned in Michigan, adults could return to using more harmful tobacco products.
Judge Cynthia Stevens said Gov. Whitmer’s administration’s delay in implementing the ban undercut its position that emergency rules were needed.
The state’s emergency ban went into effect on Oct. 1.
The lawsuit was filed by vaping businesses that say they will go out of business due to the ban.
